A special scene you can still see on the boarders of the Free State in South Africa with Lesotho: a real African cowboy, wrapped in a colourful blanket against the cold as he watches over a herd of cattle. Golden sandstone mountains glow n the distance, and you can almost reach in and touch the grass in the foreground.
The speckled cattle are the indigenous Nguni cattle, each with its own unique hide. The horses are known as Basotho ponies, which are hardy smaller horses which are bred for riding in the mountains.
Painted in acrylic on canvas.

I do enjoy the way your paintings always have a story behind them, Katharine. Lovely work!
Thanks Chris! Coming from someone who is into stories is so nice!
