Nguni cattle are indigenous to South Africa and have beautiful speckled hides. Africans are very proud of their herds and give each cow or bull special names related to their particular patterns and colours. There is a Zulu compliment: ‘to be as beautiful as a cow.’ Herding cattle is usually a boy’s job and is done with pride.

This painting is acrylic on canvas. It is stretched on a wooden frame and is ready to hang.
